Veteran journalist, media consultant, and publisher of The Nigeria Standard Magazine, Mr. Akin Alade, has described the nomination of Dr. Zainab Marwa to the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as a landmark achievement for inclusive governance and national development.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently forwarded Dr. Marwa’s name to the Senate for confirmation as the North-East representative on the NDDC Governing Board, following the resignation of former board member, Abdulrazak Namdas.
Reacting to the development, Alade said Dr. Marwa’s appointment reflects her proven competence, leadership capacity, and commitment to public service.
He noted that her emergence on the board comes at a critical period when the NDDC is intensifying efforts to drive infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic growth, and sustainable development across the Niger Delta region.
According to him, Dr. Marwa’s nomination represents more than a personal accomplishment, describing it as a significant victory for Nigerian women, young professionals, and advocates of merit-based leadership.
“Her appointment demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that capable and qualified Nigerians, regardless of geographical location, are given opportunities to contribute meaningfully to national development,” Alade stated.
He expressed confidence that Dr. Marwa would bring fresh perspectives, innovation, and a result-oriented approach to the commission’s activities, adding that her wealth of experience would be invaluable in advancing the developmental mandate of the NDDC.
“The Niger Delta Development Commission remains one of Nigeria’s most strategic intervention agencies. With Dr. Marwa joining the board, there is every reason to believe that the commission will benefit from her insight, dedication, and passion for service,” he said.
Alade further noted that Dr. Marwa possesses the qualities and leadership attributes required to make a positive impact on the board and contribute to policies and programmes that will improve the lives of millions of Nigerians.
He congratulated her on what he described as a well-deserved appointment, expressing optimism that she would justify the confidence reposed in her by President Tinubu and the Nigerian people.
“May this new assignment provide greater opportunities for service, inspire more women to aspire to leadership positions, and contribute significantly to the continued growth and transformation of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria as a whole,” he added.
On behalf of his family, associates, and the management of The Nigeria Standard Magazine, Alade wished Dr. Marwa a successful and impactful tenure on the Governing Board of the NDDC.
