The Chairman of the Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria (ISBON), Ogbomoso Zone, Alhaji Najeem Adigun, alongside members of the Adigun and Akano families, has laid to rest the matriarch of the late Pa Wale Adigun family, Madam Comfort Anike Adigun (née Akano).
Fondly known as “Iya Onike,” Madam Adigun passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of 82 and was buried on Friday, June 12, 2026, amid tributes celebrating a life of faith, service, and devotion to humanity.
At borh Christian Wake and funeral/thanksgiving services in her honour held at New Fellowship Baptist Church, Boanta area, Ogbomoso on Thursday and Friday, the congregants lauded what they called significant cintributions of the late matriarch.
Born on October 23, 1943 to the family of Pa Joseph Akano and Madam Rebecca Jolaade of Salako Orisa-Sona Compound in the Soja Idumota area of Ogbomoso, she distinguished herself through hard work, humility, and commitment to community development from an early age.
She received her primary education at Baptist Day School, Jos, between 1949 and 1958.
Thereafter, she worked with Northern Chemist, Jos, before pursuing Nursery Teachers’ Training in Saki. Upon completion of her training, she served as a teacher at First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso, where she contributed to the educational and moral development of young children.
Madam Adigun later married late Chief Wale Adigun of Egunmojo Ode Oda’s Compound, Isale Oja-Igbo Area, Ogbomoso. Their union was blessed with children, grandchildren, and a legacy of love, discipline, and strong family values.
A committed Christian, Madam Adigun dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity. She was an active member of the Women Missionary Society (WMS) at both Saja Baptist Church and New Fellowship Baptist Church, Ogbomoso, where she served diligently as treasurer.
She also rendered selfless service as Secretary of the Igbekele Oluwa Association at Saja Baptist Church for many years.
Family members, friends, and church associates described her as a prayerful, compassionate, and caring woman whose intercessory prayers touched countless lives.
She was widely respected for her unwavering faith, generosity, and commitment to the spiritual and moral well-being of her family and community.
Speaking on behalf of the family, relatives expressed gratitude to God for the impactful life she lived and the enduring legacy she left behind. They noted that although her passing has created a vacuum, her virtues, teachings, and prayers will continue to inspire generations.
Madam Adigun is survived by children, grandchildren, relatives, and numerous admirers whose lives were enriched by her love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to God.
