The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen.) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has commended an illustrious son of Ibadan, Prof. Taofik Adewale Adedosu, for his outstanding contributions to scholarship, industry and humanity.
Oba Ladoja gave the commendation in Ogbomoso on Thursday after Prof. Adedosu delivered the 74th inaugural lecture of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology on behalf of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.

The lecture, titled “Revealing the Nation’s hidden treasures beyond the Niger Delta: Insights from molecular fingerprinting of earth resources,” focused on the untapped earth resources across Nigeria and the role of science and technology in unlocking the nation’s economic potential.
Represented at the event by Dr. Nurudeen Akiande, Mogaji of the Onilari family, the monarch described Prof. Adedosu as a thoroughbred academic and scientist of high repute who has distinguished himself through excellence, humility and service to humanity.

Olubadan said, “Prof. Taofik Adewale Adedosu is an omoluabi. It is sometimes difficult to combine scholarship with the virtues of an omoluabi, but this distinguished scholar and son of the Adamasingba family has successfully combined both, and we are indeed proud to be part of this event today.
“He is a lover of humanity. He is passionate about the progress of our communities and beyond. He is humble and committed to the development of society.
“On behalf of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, I wish him more resounding success as he continues to contribute to the advancement of humanity.”

The paramount ruler also urged Ibadan indigenes to constinue striving for excellence and remain good ambassadors of Ibadanland wherever they may find themselves across the world.
The inaugural lecture attracted dignitaries from different walks of life, including academics, technocrats, professionals, political leaders, family members and friends, who gathered to celebrate Prof. Adedosu’s achievements in academia both within Nigeria and internationally.
Stakeholders of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), alongside many Ibadan indigenes, were also present at the event.
The delegation of the CCII was led by the Chairman of the CCII Board of Trustees, Dr. Lasisi Balogun.

Guests were later entertained at The Hall, LAUTECH, in an atmosphere marked by celebration and admiration for the inaugural lecturer’s contributions to science, education and national development.
